Sport & Exercise Medicine Physician

Dr. Nick van Wetering is a highly respected sports physician with extensive experience working with elite teams and athletes. He is recognised as the sports physician of choice in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Nick is experienced in managing a wide range of sporting and musculoskeletal disorders, with a special focus on spinal injuries. He has particular expertise in managing pars defects in athletes, helping them recover safely and return to peak performance.

He also has a strong interest in radial shockwave therapy for musculoskeletal conditions, particularly tendon pathology, using advanced treatment methods to support recovery and rehabilitation.

Nick collaborates with some of Melbourne’s leading orthopaedic surgeons, including Mr Eden Raleigh, Mr John O’Donnell, and Mr Tony Dunin. He currently serves as Head Team Physician for both Melbourne City FC and the Eastern Ranges TAC Cup Team.

In addition to his clinical work, Nick is actively involved in research and innovative treatments. He is currently participating in trials for Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium (PPS), a new therapy aimed at treating aggressive bone marrow oedema associated with osteoarthritis.
